If you were lucky enough to see Masculinities at the Barbican you will no doubt have been enchanted by the photography of Sunil Gupta. His photos documenting the lives of gay men in India are at once personal and humorous but also deeply subversive, especially in a country where being gay comes with considerable risk.

The first major UK retrospective of his work, From Here to Eternity, brings together his earlier street photography with more recent highly stylised photographs, as well as some portraiture, to give an overview of a career which has inspired countless LGBTQ+ campaigners and shone a light on the experience of gay Indian men.

'From Here to Eternity: Sunil Gupta. A Retrospective' and Evgenia Arbugaeva 'Hyperborea - Stories from the Russian Arctic' are on display at The Photographers' Gallery from 9th October 2020 - 24 January 2021.
