At a time when joy is in short supply, these performances had it in abundance. World class dancing from the Royal Ballet in the beautiful industrial surrounds of the canal side at Hoxton Docks. An opportunity for frustrated dancers to perform and for people to safely view in the fresh air from across the canal. A perfect, creative solution to the understandable limitations around live theatre performances.

Unless, that is, you're Hackney Council and the police, who sent round men in riot gear to shut it down. A more heavy-handed response would be hard to imagine. See the DistDancing insta at the link below for images of how it went down.
